Indie pop codes and conventions involve things such as :

Setting 
Indie-pop music videos are mainly low budget videos. That are mainly set in studios, cities,parks, woods etc these location create mystery and make the audience question the setting.


Performance:
Most indie-pop music videos include live performance from the audience which makes the audience focus on the audience an their talent and passion. Live performances also remote the audience as it encourage step audience to watch them live. Performance is often partnered with a narrative to break up the music vide.

Narrative 
This is used to tell a story using a sequence of images and videos and still relate to the song.

Mise-en-scene
Indie music videos are often simple with props. Costume and make up complete the character. It indicates their age and era of the music.

Sound 
Dialogues often used at then beginning and end of the music video to conclude the story. Digetic sound is used when filming sounds to match the lyrics with the actions.

Camera 
Extreme close ups are the most common shots used as this introduces the artist. long shots establishing shots are used to show the setting of the video and sets the character. Tilts and pans to move the scene along or cut into another scene. handle shots are used to see a memory.

Editing 
Filters are often used owe the tops of clips or the entire video.The video can also be sped up or slowed down.

The genre we have chosen for our music video is Indie-pop.

The genre of Indie-pop is a sun genre of alternative rock or indie rock and a sub culture that originated in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s.Indie pop changes itself from indie rock by its more melodic tones. With its roots in the Scottish post punk bands on the postcard records label with bands and the dominate UK band The Smiths.

Brief

A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following three options:

• a website homepage for the band;
  
• a digipak for the album’s release;
  
• a magazine advertisement for the digipak. 
  

Goodwins Theory

Godwin came up with a theory that suggests several factors that appear in a generic music video, these are:

1. Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics (peformance)
2. There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals.
3. There is a relationship between music and visuals (amplifies, illustrates and contradicts)
4. The demands of the record label will include the needs for lots of the artist and the artist may develop motifs- which recur across their work (visual style)
5. There is frequently reference to notion of looking, and particulary voyeristic treatment of the female body.
6. There is often intertextual reference (shows, videos, politics or events).

Music video history

The invention of film and cinema brought the possibility of combining music and moving image. Advances in technology has helped turn music videos in to what they are today.Music videos have been around since the 1920s,many jazz musicians such as Bessie Smith made short films to accompany their music.



The creation of the 1975 video Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen marked the beginning of the video era an set the language for modern music video .They video is considered one of the first to use advanced visual effects.

Camera movement may accompany movement of the performer such as walking it can be used to make a dynamic feel. A close up is used to show a performers emotions
