Editing diary part 1

Todat we edited the beginning parts of the footage that we have filmed for the video. These weeks has that we took at Erith pier for the beginning on the video. We began to colour grade the footage so that we could get the colours the way we wanted them to be. We also began to roughly cut them together and start to shape the video.

Mood board

We decided to create a mood board about ours artsist to get a idea of what we wanted to base her on and so that we had all of our different ideas about her in one lace. This made it easy to continue growing our ideas about her. 

Record labels

Record labels are what helps an artist produce and sell their music. The help them promote themselves for a percentage of the money. They often have a lot of control over the artist.


Major labels 
These often have a strict hold on whoever the sign and are very particular about what they can and can't do. This is as it can be bad for the companies name if something goes wrong with the artist. The are very restrictive with what the artist can do and take a large percentage of profits earned.

Independant labels 
Independant labels are often seen as more caring toward their artist and tend to take less of a profit. The tend to be less main stream and allow the artist more freedom with how they're portrayed and show and also how to share around there music.They also tend not to hold rights to the artist so the artist can see the rights to the music to whoever they want.

Video Shoot 3

During this shoot we went to our outside setting. This setting was a pier to film the main section of the music video. We found this setting and chose this as it fired with the man narrative of ou music video.

Locations

The locations we decided to us mainly in the video were Erith pier we decided the setting as we could film the main begging bulk of the video here. This allowed us to film the establishing shots of the sea.

We also decided to film in Gods own junkyard for the end part of the music video this was an important location as it tied all of the neon lights together. 

WET band in depth research

Wet is the band we have decided to create a music video with one of there songs called "its all in vain"

Wet are an indie pop band made up of Kelly Zutrau, Joe Valle, and Marty Sulkow. The band was first formed in 2012 they have released an album and EP and are signed to Columbia records. The three members met in New york city whist at university. The group began writing and sharing music online and began to gain attention in 2013. They signed with a boutique record label called neon gold in 2013, who at the time had a partnership with columbia records Neo gold began a new partnership with Atlantic records in 2014 and WET decided to sign with columbia itself this time. Wet realised their first album in 2016 titled "don't you". 

Song choice

Today we finally decided our song this was an issue that we needed to agree on due to us needing to begin filming for our video.we have dediced on a song called its all in vain by a band called WET.

Shoot 2

During this shoot we used the same set up as we did for the first shoot as we liked the set up of the footage from the shoot. Though during this shoot we set up the camera to film at different angles. So we can have a different angles for the chorus.This was filmed in the same setting as the other chorus as we decided to keep a very simplistic white room that we could manipulate as to what we wanted the background to look like.

Oh wonder analysis

the video begins with an establishing shot of the setting. it also has text showing the and of the song.

The camera then zooms in on a man lying on the floor. And then cuts to a woman also laying on the floor in a different setting this introduces the audience to the prospers in the song. 

The shots the cuts to an establishing shot of both the performers together lip syncing to the song. 

Scenes of both the performers walking through there different settings continue through out the video whilst being cut up with shots f them both presuming together in similar clothing. 

Wet music video analysis

the music video starts with a close up shot of the artist establishing her in the song.

the video then cuts to an establishing shot of the street which we assume is the main setting for the music video. 

the video then tracks the movement of the artists as she walks along the street to establish who the main performer is. 

The actual song the video is for does not start until 45 seconds in and before hand we just hear everyday noises of the street. We have a second character introduced during the video at 1:14 minutes in who stays i  the video throughout.

The video starts with an establishing shot if both the perfomer and the actor in the music video. this gives the audience an idea about the storyline of the song and that it will be about love.

The video then shows a shot of the artist standing and shows an image of the song title and band name. 

The video swaps between lips of the singer standing alone in a desert like setting to the setting of the couple together. The artists is lip syncing along to the song whilst in the clips on her own. 

The song uses many close ups of the artists face as she is lip syncing along with the song. 

the song contuse and follows the storyline until at the end the couple are back together and are see in the same shot as they were at the beginning of the song.
